As our understanding of learners continues to evolve, so does our opportunity to further develop training that promotes belonging and access. In this session, participants will have the opportunity to share and gather resources that will advance training design to support a diverse workforce. Themes included will be designing for accessibility, strategies for considering neurodiversity and promoting a mindset that begins with all learners at the start.

Meet Your Presenters

Michelle Bartlett, Ph.D., is a faculty scholar at the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research at North Carolina State University. She leads a doctoral program for community college executive leadership at NC State University. Michelle has extensive experience designing and facilitating training for post-secondary education, business, and government programs. Michelle creates programs in Executive Leadership, Universal Design for Learning, Accessibility Design in Online Environments, and Instructional Design. She serves as the Professional Development Trustee for the Association for Career and Technical Education Research and co-founder of the UNITE lab.

Dr. Suzanne Ehrlich is an Associate Professor and Program Co-Director in the Educational Technology, Training and Development program at the University of North Florida (UNF). She has presented nationally/internationally on the topics of implementing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework for improved learner engagement, inclusive design, and leveraging technology for access. She is the Director and Co-Founder for the UNITE Design Lab at UNF. Her recent work focuses on the UDL mindset in post-secondary settings and the workplace. She has published on themes such as UDL in the workplace, designing digital accessibility professional development and designing for empathy in virtual spaces. Her service focused on boards such as a UNF NEFSTEM (Northeast Florida STEM hub), Vice President of Technology for the Association of Training and Development of Northeast Florida (ATDNEFL), and current board member for WCET (WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies).
