    Growth Mindset: Lion or Unicorn?

It's a buzzword in the space of business, athletics, and the military. If we leverage a Growth Mindset, we unlock our potential and achieve anything we set our minds to. In this workshop, we'll examine traditional views of a Growth Mindset, explore a modified version, and determine if this concept is something that can actually be pursued systematically within our selves or those we lead or serve.

    Speaker:

    Josh Orr

Originally from the Boise valley, Josh has spent over a decade providing a diverse range of performance solutions to professional athletes, the United States Military and businesses. As a contractor for the military, Josh designed and implemented leadership, team building, and mental strength training for various populations, to include snipers, EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) technicians, and the Golden Knights Parachute Teams. Josh comes with an insatiable desire to learn and solve problems while providing effective and sustainable performance solutions. He isn't quite sure that this love for learning and growth is a strength or a weakness.

    Taking Ownership!

An attitude of ownership and accountability in life and work doesn’t simply appear when responsibility is given. This training is focused around the process of taking ownership, whether of a specific policy, a relationship, or an organization overall. It also covers how ignorance and apathy can prevent us from investing ourselves in that process. We’ll discuss the importance of accountability, and its potential impact on a job, a career, a team, and company culture.

    Speaker:

    Jonathan Shipley

Jon trained more than 200 hours in 2018 alone, he is on the ESOP communication committee for AmeriBen, worked two years on other internal culture committees (one year as lead), and has 10 years teaching at a university level as well as sales, customer service, and branch management experience.

    Building a Deliberately Developmental Team

Your team is probably getting better over time, but is it getting better at getting better? What would be possible if you could turn work itself into a developmental experience? Come learn about the real stories, theories, and practices behind one team's attempt to become "deliberately developmental". You will be given an honest look at what it’s like to be on a team like this, why it matters, what it takes to build it, and how your team(s) may benefit from considering some of these concepts.

*The term “deliberately developmental” is from An everyone Culture by Robert Kegan & Lisa Lahey

    Speaker:

Andrea Armentrout, Brianna Meyer, Colin Koach, Jennifer Stevens, & Megan Renaldo

The City of Boise’s organizational development exists to help its people and organization thrive, this includes training, consulting, well being, leadership development, coaching, and culture work. The team was created in 2016 and has led several organization wide changes focused on integrating growth, development, and well being deeply into the employee experience. They are a group who pride themselves on working as a true team, thinking differently, and viewing work as a place to not only learn and grow, but to become better people.

Using Job-Focused Objectives to Improve Learning Transfer

Many L&D practitioners support professionals whose jobs are about recognizing situations, making decisions, solving problems, and communicating with others. How do practitioners specify professionals’ higher-level cognitive skills in ways support practice, assessment, and transfer to the workplace? Savvy practitioners focus on skills-to-be-learned, rather than content-to-be-covered. The objectives they create become a promise of valued workplace performance that clients, learners, and stakeholders can trust. Come learn and practice powerful, proven strategies in this interactive workshop.
